"Maximum Allowable Cost List" or "HCFA MAC List" means the list of certain drugs generated by the Health Care Financing Administration that states the amount that HCFA compensates pharmacies for the ingredient cost for multisource Generic Drugs.
Many contracts will tell you that generics are priced at the lower of contracted discount or MAC...
Ask your current PBM which MAC they use...if it's not the Fed MAC or HCFA MAC, then it's not auditable, and can change all the time. HometownRx uses the Fed MAC.
